November 2, 2007 Log Questions 1-2

1. Because Socrates, one of the first philosophers of time, left no written legacy of his own, it is hard to know what his finding were truly all about. What we know of him comes mostly from his pupil, Plato.

This is a statement, certainly, but is it a topic? What are you actually interested in finding out?

Your search terms will certainly take you into Socrates and Plato, the men, and the other terms into their works. Philosophy is broad enough for a specialized print database, which we'll discuss in class, but it will be too general for some of the databases.

You really need a question that's inherent in the statement you make.
